Sea Island Ballet Studios

SEA ISLAND DANCE COMPANY ("SIDCo" or "The Company")

SIDCo is a division of Sea Island Ballet Studios Inc. The Company division is a performance-based group, requiring serious commitment from each participant.

The intent of Sea Island Ballet is to educate students in a well-focused and disciplined classroom, and to support their endeavour to study ballet seriously. Proper technique is key to developing skill in ballet, and performance is an essential part of the ballet art form. In order to join the Company, you must have dance experience and permission from the artistic director, Ms. Miyouki. SIDCo dancers are required to participate in both technique and choreography/rehearsal classes. The once-weekly rehearsal time is dedicated to preparation for our numerous performances throughout the year.

SIDCo Adult dancers are required to attend at least one technique class per week, as well as the choreography/rehearsal class. SIDCo Youth dancers are required at least two technique classes per week as well as the choreography/rehearsal class.

Dancers must be in the studio before the class starts; no one may enter after the class has started. Proper dance attire must be worn, no watches or jewellery, no gum, hair up and off the face, no nail polish. Water bottles only (no food) in the studio.

If you are interested in supporting SIDCo in any way, please do not hesitate to contact us at seaislandballet@gmail.com.

This year will mark the first official SIDCo school-year program for our performance Company. We will have a new structure to provide all Company members with training that will better support each dancer's individual efforts to be more successful with their dance experience.

We will start with two levels: Level A for those needing extra time with choreography from 6-8pm, and Level B for those who grasp the choreography quickly from 7-9pm. Both levels are designed to support each dancer.

At the discretion of the artistic director, when a dancer understands Dance A very well, but is uncertain about Dance B or unable to grasp it quickly, the dancer may attend the Level A session until the dancer is comfortable with Dance B, before moving on to the next piece of choreography.

Some choreography and rehearsals will require both levels to study together for the full 3 hours (6:00pm - 9:00pm). The schedule may change from time-to-time, so please reserve all three hours in your schedule. We will have a Google calendar for SIDCo in order to keep the schedule as organized as possible. If you have any questions or feedback, please address all concerns directly to Ms.Miyouki.
